Ordinary digital prints from your own camera or smartphone printed on copy paper make a great shortcut to creating stunning original drawings. Use your drawings to begin your next painting.
I’ll share the way in which I use my smartphone and regular home printer to take my photos to a “finished sketch” to use for my new paintings. I find it a very easy and creative way to manipulate ordinary photos into something much more striking before you even touch your canvas. This is especially good for folks doing any representational images like portraits, still lifes or landscapes.
Attendees need to bring their own digital images printed one image to a page on ordinary copy paper. They should bring at least four different images or multiples of the same image so that they can ‘see’ the differences when they attempt a variety of approaches to drawing on the same image. Also, if possible bring colored pencils and/or oil pastels.
