Dragonflys to grace your garden.  These colorful, glittering glass beauties will capture your heart.

 

Instructor: Kathleen Nelson

 

In this class you will make one large and one small dragon fly.  Using frit (ground glass), stringers (thin glass rods) and pebbles of glass, a unique creature will emerge.  No glass cutting skills are required.

Class Fee: $60
Materials Fee: $10

Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate

Age Limit: Minimum age of 12. Ages 12-17 ok, but must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

Watercolor is a fun and unpredictable medium, perfect for the budding artist! This workshop will teach the basics of watercolor and the simple techniques needed to paint with confidence. Students will learn to paint from photo references, increase observation skills, and develop a unique painting style in a fun an age-appropriate learning style.

Participants of this class will have fun making their own special gift on a sloped glass plate using
an age-old technique called Reverse Decoupage.

 

Instructor: Nancy Breiman

 

This class is designed for everyone and no artistic talent or experience is needed, just a desire to learn and have fun! All the materials for this class will be provided, however, if you have a favorite wrapping paper you would like to use, please bring it with you. You will leave this workshop with a finished product you can proudly gift or keep for yourself.


Class Fee: $45
Materials Fee: $15 (to be paid directly to the instructor)

About: Celebrating Women's History Month “Making Her Mark” invites self-identified female artists to show their work and contribute to the developing exchange of ideas around how women have shaped the arts.

All submissions are processed online, to submit scroll to the bottom of this page and click 'Register for this Event'. If you need assistance submitting your artwork to be juried, please contact the Sonoran Arts League office at 480-575-6624.     
 
Important Dates:
Application Deadline: March 29, 2021
Jury Date:, 2021
Artist Notification Date: February 28, 2021
Drop Off Date: April 5, 2021
Install Date: April 5 & 6, 2021
Opening Reception Date: TBD pending local COVID-19 restrictions.
Exhibition Run Dates: April 6 – May 2, 2021
Artwork Pickup: May 3, 2021

Accepted Artwork: Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Glass, Fiber, Functional, Digital, Photography, Installation, Jewelry, Mixed Media, and New Genres. Proposals may include multiple disciplines.
 
Call Fees:
  • $30 with 2 volunteer hours* for up to 5 submissions.
  • $80 with no volunteer hours for up to 5 submissions.
 *Volunteer hours must be completed in the 2021 calendar year with the Sonoran Arts League or be bought out at a rate of $25/hour.
 
Commission: The Sonoran Arts League retains a 25% commission on all exhibition sales.
 
Sales: The Sonoran Arts League will make payment of the sale price less the commission (25%) of all sold artwork directly to the artist. If work is purchased by credit card, credit card processing fees will be deducted from the payment to the artist. Checks will be available 10 days following the close of the show.
With the sale of work, the artist is encouraged to bring in new artwork as approved by the League office as replacement for the sold piece.
 
Display Requirements: Art must be in gallery ready condition and each piece must be well labeled on the back or bottom.
  • Gallery Ready works include D-rings or screw eyes and wire for paintings.
  • Pieces with saw-tooth hangers will not accepted.
  • No filament fishing line is acceptable, all mounting systems must be strong enough to support the weight of the artwork.
  • For 2D artwork on canvases, artwork must be gallery wrapped or framed.  
  • For wall-mounted sculpture, if you require a system other than a standard picture hanger, the artist must provide the hanging system and must either mount the piece and/or supervise the hanging process.  
 
Selected Works: Artists selected for an exhibition will be given sufficient time to prepare their work and make drop off/delivery arrangements prior to the exhibit date. There is no maximum or minimum number of artists.

All work must be original, unsold work, & the artist must own the sole copyright to art.

Once your artwork is accepted there will be no substitutions and your work must remain in the Center for the Arts through the end of the show or until it sells.
