A versatile medium for beginners, pastels emit an intensity of color unchallenged by any other medium. Students will be guided from start to finish, establishing proportion and shape, then volume and surface through color and value. Unlike oil painting, an oil pastel can be done quickly, with very little mess and next to no accessories (oils, solvents, etc.) and doesn’t require dry time. Oil Pastel can be used on various substrates and surfaces: different kinds of paper, canvas, primed wood panel.
