Want an early start on Holiday Cheer? 

 

Instructor: Kathleen Nelson


Have fun creating a holiday themed plate.  Students will create an 8 x 8” plate with a holiday theme of their choice in this 2-3 hour class.  Multiple options will be available using glass cut outs, frit (ground glass), glass noodles and stringers.  These plates will be a joyful way to celebrate the holiday session, or a great hostess gift for that important party.  Come and enjoy a chance to work with fused glass.  Plates will be ready for pick up the next week.


Class Fee: $55
Materials Fee: $20 (to be collected by instructor)

Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate

Age Limit: Minimum age of 12. Ages 12-17 ok, but must be accompanied by parent or guardian.

Meet the Members Coffee offers a relaxed networking opportunity to meet other members, share artistic ideas, and learn more about the League. Held monthly on the first Wednesday, all members are welcome.

Friday, November 5, 2021 - Friday, November 12, 2021

This 2 session class is designed for adults that have attended an Intro to Ceramics workshop at the Sonoran Arts League or who have prior experience with ceramics. Students will learn advanced handbuilding techniques.
 

 

Instructor: Robin Ray

 

2 Week Series - Class Dates:

  • November 5, 2021 - 9:00am to 4pm (with a 1 hour break for lunch)
  • November 12, 2021 - 9:00am to 4pm (with a 1 hour break for lunch)
 
  • Registration includes:
  • Weekly live lessons
  • Hands on instructor support
  • Ceramics materials provided at the Studio (clay, tools, wareboards, plastic, underglazes)
  • 2 rounds of firing
  • Glazes


Class Fee: $150
Materials Fee: $20 (to be paid directly to the instructor) 

Skill Level: Beginner, Intermediate

Age Limit: Adult Only (must be 18+)

The Sonoran Arts League is proud to offer a Veteran Art Program to our military community, both active and retired, including free art classes, workshops, and open studio time, bridging the United States Armed Forces and the arts community by bringing the arts and art education to veterans and military.

Free for Veterans and Active Duty Service Members.
Guests and Spouses are invited to join pending available space for $12.

Free Art Workshop for Students in Grades 3 - 8.

Beading Bonanza!

Participants will learn the basics of beading and make creations of their own design! We will supply the necessary materials including:  beading wire, crimp tubes, a clasp, and an assortment of beads, gemstones, and charms to create a work of art. 

This workshop is presented free to the community through the generous support of Kiwanis of Carefree.

The Sonoran Arts League Board of Directors determines the strategic direction of the organization while addressing economic development, growth, and unity amid a global pandemic. Board members will work to continue to build strong partnerships and connections that benefit the Sonoran Arts League members and the surrounding community. 

Board meetings are held monthly on the third Tuesday of the month. Sonoran Arts League members are invited to attend board meetings as guests or submit items to be added to the agenda for presentation during a meeting.

This meeting will be streamed via Zoom. Sonoran Arts League Members will receive a meeting agenda and Zoom link via email one week prior to the meeting date. 

Each month the Sonoran Arts League brings together its members to discuss upcoming events, current arts trends and news from the organization. League membership meetings are also key opportunities for members to network amongst each other, develop new relationships, and stay up to date on all things Sonoran Arts League.

The mission of the Hidden In The Hills Artist Studio Tour is to provide an opportunity for the public to visit the workspaces of dedicated artists in the Sonoran Foothills, to learn about the artist's methodology and process and to purchase directly from them in a friendly, engaging atmosphere that showcases quality art. 

A signature event of the non-profit Sonoran Arts League, the 2021 tour will feature artists in various studio locations throughout the scenic Desert Foothills communities of Cave Creek, Carefree, and North Scottsdale.

Now in its 25th year, the free, self-guided studio tour offers seasoned collectors and art enthusiasts a rare chance to observe artists at work in their private studios during the six-day tour. The studio tour also attracts holiday shoppers seeking original, unique gifts. Each studio has one or more guest artists who also display and sell their work. All artists are Sonoran Arts League members, and several will be coming from different parts of the state to participate in the annual event.
