Hummingbird Bird Class

Arts Learning Center in Stagecoach Village

Create a unique and beautiful piece of functional art. In this class the student will create a picture of a humming bird that may be framed for hanging.  Patterns will be provided but the student will use frits (ground glass) and other glass to create their unique picture. Come have fund and put your creativity to work.

Optic Cheese Plate Class

Arts Learning Center in Stagecoach Village

Create a unique and beautiful piece of functional art.  This class will demonstrate the unique properties of glass and heat.  Using glass squares of different thickness you will see how glass fuses to a thickness of ¼ inch.  Come create a piece of art. Cheese plate will measure approximately 9” x 9”.

Sculpt in  Fiber Clay with Joanie Wolter

4 pm to 5:30 pm

Want to take a class where you can't make a mistake????  Come learn to sculpt with Fiber Clay in this intensive 4 day workshop sponsored by Kiwanis and the Sonoran Arts league. Not only will you learn to use this unique clay, but you'll learn to use unusual armatures, learn to repair mistakes, and finish a piece of to make it look like a bronze. At the end of the 4 afternoons, you will have created a completed sculpture to take home and enjoy.

Journaling and Explore New Media

Create something beautiful with all of those art supplies that you have bought and don’t know how to use! 
Week One, we will be making a small blank journal and some quick collage papers   You may also bring any journal and collage papers that you already have. 
In the following weeks, we will be filling pages of your journal using drawing, painting and collage techniques with paint pens, markers, inks, watercolor, acrylics, and collage papers. 
All of the supplies you need will be available.
Dress in your “art clothes”.

FREE WORKSHOP for students in Grades: 3 - 8


Instructor:    Michele Cortsini

Students will have fun with this introduction to collagraph printmaking.  Students of all ages will enjoy this technique as we use simple materials such as paper and tempera paint to create bold effects. Students will be instructed how to incorporate African motifs to create a print of their own African mask. 


This workshop is presented free to the community through the generous support of Kiwanis of Carefree.
