Rob is originally from central Ohio and became interested in ceramics and pottery in high school. He took every class available and with his instructor?s encouragement, would often utilize the school resources outside of regular school hours. One of his pieces was featured in the Governor?s Show.
After graduating, Robert entered the US Navy and then studied radar principles and advanced electronics, and then proceeded to have a successful career in business. However, he always tried to maintain at least a small studio or area to practice ceramics and woodworking.
Robert and his family relocated to Arizona in 2008. The number and quality of galleries and art shows that Arizona hosts impressed him and reignited his passion for art. He set up a studio for ceramics, woodworking, photography, drawing and painting. His first woodworking piece, an altar table, was given Honorable Mention in the Woodworkers Source Woodworking Contest. Since then, he has focused on creating functional boxes with various woods, pottery with crystalline glazes, and most recently wheel-thrown black clay pieces.
