I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. As long as I can remember I have loved drawing and painting. When I was 10 years old I went to the Philadelphia Art Museum on a class filed trip and I fell in love with all of the different mediums. It became one of my favorite places to visit while I lived there. My parents always encouraged and supported me in my love of art. Throughout the years I have tried a little bit of everything. Although I was never formally trained, I learned as much as I could through books, demos from other artists and good old fashioned trial and error.
Over the years, I continued to draw and paint for the fun of it, but I did not get serious about it until after moving to Arizona in 2006. My husband pushed me to carve out time to work on my craft. He encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone and try different things. I started with oil painting, then worked my way into pastels. I worked with pastels for about 8 years. They were actually my favorite medium to work with until I became curious about encaustic (painting with hot wax.) I have only just begun to work in this medium, but I find it so fun to work with and so fascinating.
