Carol Fugmann a jeweler has worked as an artist for many years. While working at an earlier career in advertising, she started exploring the process of working with metal, in her free time. Carol set up a studio in her home in Rochester, New York and for over 20 years she has been designing, fabricating and selling her jewelry.
As a metalsmith, she focuses on manipulating sterling silver, gold sheet and wire with tools such as a rolling mill, hand saw, drills, special forging, chisel, and planishing hammers. Each jewelry piece is hand made and includes semi-precious stones and or pearls.
Carol's work is inspired by her passion for gardening. Her jewelry pieces often capture an organic essence. Each piece with a concave recessed area traps stones or pearls and has a contrasting raised polished area. The underlying oxidized textures, create depth which piques interest and attention to the preciousness held within.
Her work can be seen in museums, galleries and at nationally juried art shows throughout the country.
