"If it looks like it might jump off the table or bite, then I've done my job."
From my tiny Three Star Owl studio near Papago Park, I make functional and sculptural clay items and also teach clay classes through the City of Scottsdale. Convinced that hiking, birding, and gardening are great ways of gettig outside to see who's up to what, I don't consider myself a wildlife artist, but rather an observer who takes notes in clay. I've been working in clay for nearly three decades in four different states, including teaching in community and university settings, and running my studio. I currently reach clients through local art events, my website threestarowl.com, and various birding and nature festivals in the southwestern US.
