Peggy Pettigrew-Stewart?s award winning glass art has been featured in museums, exhibitions and galleries worldwide. Her fascination and unique journey in glass began 21 years ago, after battling cancer. She is one of the few glass artists to create glass using her Verre’ Eglomise (™) technique. She combines multiple processes & materials to create her unique glass art. She is one of the few U.S. instructors to teach Verre’ Eglomise (™) glass. Ms. Stewart attended Pilchuck Glass School & Academe’ Taller Barcelona Spain. She has been a member of Team Chihuly.
Her Dichroic glass sculptures release prismatic colors that change according to the specific rays of light. It is one of the most expensive glass. Color and passion are evident in all of her glass. which range from human face-to-glass expressions, to the multilayered beauty of Verre’ Eglomise (™) glass. Her techniques include kiln sculpting, kiln casting, sandcarving. Her Dichroic sculptures sandblasting & carving, adding color and use of precious metals. She always works with thick glass or crystal.
Ms. Stewart gives voice to the human spirit through her glass series of the legendary Heroes of Woodstock, A collection featuring the faces & art of legendary musicians from the Woodstock festival that defined a generation fifty years ago. Created from actual life masks of the legends. She continues her decades-long fascination and experimentation with translucence and transparency, with color and light, and a bit of music. It is the art of music, and the music of art.
