A native of Southern California, Tamara relocated to Scottsdale, AZ in 1994. She attended Scottsdale Community College and went on to receive her Bachelor's Degree from Arizona State University. Her forty-five year career field has been computer information systems with a concentration in global business.
Tamara has always had an affinity for jewelry and a desire to create art. After taking several jewelry making classes at a local bead store she concentrated on learning wire wrapping techniques that allowed her to fulfill her aspiration to create jewelry. She also joined a monthly beading group that provided her the opportunity to learn new beading techniques and develop her skills. It was three years later that she would discover her true passion. A bead challenge project required that each artist create a piece of jewelry using a technique that they did not know, bead embroidery. Tamara began the challenge by reading a book, Dimensional Bead Embroidery by Jamie Cloud Eakin and two months later she completed her first bead embroidery necklace. This beading technique requires the artist to meticulously sew beads to a fabric foundation. As she stitches each section of beads her creations begin to take on a life of their own. Each finished necklace tells a story and becomes a wearable piece of art. Bead embroidery has allowed Tamara to satisfy both of her artistic desires, to make jewelry and create art.
