Designers Michael Francis Nickell and Christa Lauren Kuether formed their jewelry partnership in 1987 in Seattle, Washington. Michael's training included working for high-end jewelers in Waikiki, Hawaii. He spent many years working at Pex of Hawaii located at The Royal Hawaiian Hotel. Christa earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in metalsmithing from College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. Their varied backgrounds became a good foundation for business.
They specialized in design and custom jewelry work for local stores and clients in the Seattle / Bellevue, Washington area. By the 1990's, they were designing and creating platinum bridal jewelry and for more than a decade were featured in the prestigious yearly platinum publications sponsored by the Platinum Guild in Costa Mesa, California. Michael taught mold making for the jewelry industry, as well as stone carving at Highline College in Des Moines, Washington. Christa served on the advisory board of the jewelry program run by Dr. Hellyn Pawula, at Highline College.
In 2002, they made the decision to move just north of Phoenix, Arizona to pursue new goals. One of Michael's passions is searching for perfect stones that he eventually transforms into small, detailed stone carvings. Since Christa's interests have always included education, she returned to school to earn her Master's degree in Special Education, in 2004. The team continues to enjoy working on select projects together and offers a variety of fine jewelry designs and stone carvings for sale.
