Judy Moody earned her composite art degree at Brigham Young University in Utah, as well as a Special Education degree, which she taught for 25 years. She "accidently happened on" to a couple of gourds in a shop in Park City, Utah and knew right away that gourds would be an exciting new medium to work with. She now sells and shows at her studio, as well as teaches gourd classes at her home in Surprise, Arizona.
After moving to Arizona, Judy discovered the wonderful motifs and natural materials of the Southwest. She found that they lent themselves beautifully to gourd art, which also includes many types of weaving fibers, carving, and wood burning techniques. Over the years, her artistic style has continued to grow as she uses it to teach others interested in learning to gourd. She sells her prize winning gourd art in galleries, fine art shows throughout the valley, and from her own studio in Surprise, Az. Judy is a juried member of the Sonoran Art League.
