Artist Statement

I paint to celebrate the magic and beauty that I see daily in the world around me. I want to surprise the viewer, provoke thought and add to the mystery of our everyday world with my art. I hope to inspire and awaken, in my viewers, the same spark of curiosity and awe that I see and experience. I usually have an idea or a story that I want to convey in my art. The viewer does not need to understand it and can interpret it in way they like. Once I start a painting, I know that it will evolve in ways I couldn?t have planned. It?s as if the Universe or a muse were working through me. The result always turns out better than my original idea. I completely trust in and enjoy this enigmatic process.

I have been continuously making art since I graduated from college in ?77. For many years I specialized in watercolor and pencil/pastel, but now I work mainly in oil. I have taught art for 38 years, in a variety of locations. I teach all levels, all ages, most media and any subject matter. I specialize in INSPIRATION! I have shown in various cities and venues. I have produced several large public art murals. I have illustrated books, cartoons for magazines and painted many commissioned portraits of people and animals. I live and work in N. Scottsdale with my husband, sculptor Lyle London. I have a large studio in my home where I teach year around. I am an avid gardener, hiker, animal lover, and until recently, a competitive equestrian.
