My art career began as a young child. I had seen my parents' friend working in her ceramics studio and proclaimed that I wanted to be a potter when I grew up. It only took quite a few years before that became reality. In the meantime I honed my eye by practicing watercolors, pastels and charcoal, then assemblage. I learned how to make jewelry and had a nice side career with it. I learned and taught faux painting, candle making, hand stitched fiber dolls, anything that interested me and I had perfected techniques in. I opened a boutique in Santa Cruz that acted as my design studio as well as art gallery with my pieces and those of local fine artists, which I constantly curated for 11 lovely years. After 23 years as an interior designer and color consultant, I am so happy to fulfill my dreams of making art full time. I am constantly inspired by nature, especially here in the beautiful Sonoran Desert. I tend towards organic forms and colors, and like my work to be tactile and show the imprint of my touch. |
